Responsibilities
Lead the planning, management, and execution of geotechnical projects
Develop engineering scope of work and fee estimates
Communicate effectively with clients, business partners, subconsultants, and Schnabel team members
Selection, installation, troubleshooting, and data interpretation of geotechnical instrumentation
Scheduling and coordination, during assessment, design, and construction phases
Perform design calculations, engineering analyses, and construction drawings, and specifications
Interpretation of soil boring logs, geotechnical instrumentation data, previous design reports, and laboratory test data, and development of design and construction recommendations
Drafting reports, graphics, charts, and boring logs. Some field work and travel will be required for geotechnical explorations, site reconnaissance visits, and/or construction observation

Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
5+ years of relevant geotechnical experience in consulting
Licensed Professional Engineer, or ability to obtain within 6 months, and ability to obtain reciprocity in other states
Experience conducting geotechnical laboratory testing in accordance with AASHTO and ASTM Standards
Experience with interpreting geotechnical laboratory and geotechnical instrumentation data
Project Management Experience
Familiar with heavy civil construction means and methods
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Strong professional work ethic and desire to perform at a high level
Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary, multi-office team
Attention to detail and well-organized
Willingness and ability to travel
Preferred
Master’s Degree or higher in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
Prior experience with geotechnical transportation related design and familiar with AASHTO codes
