Responsibilities
Create and/or modify solutions to complex software problems including coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and maintaining
Participate in leading smaller engineering efforts and contribute to larger, enterprise-wide initiatives
Engage with technologies such as Java, SQL, vendor applications, mainframe systems, and data transformations/pipelines
Work in an agile team focused on enabling actuaries as they model and forecast multiple sources of data
Apply technical knowledge to drive outcomes for customers
Design solutions within the core framework of software products
Solve complex problems independently or collaboratively within the team
Learn and apply new technologies to improve the product lifecycle
Provide technical expertise, training, and coaching to junior developers
Participate in the interview process and recruit talent to the team
Support continuous improvement, exceptional employee engagement, and commitment to clients
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience
3 to 5 years of Engineering experience
Sound knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Knowledge of industry standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices
Knowledge of systems design concepts that provide security and stability
Deep knowledge of Operating Systems and/or Application Development Platforms
Ability to debug code and/or complex log files for troubleshooting and analysis of product defects
Sound understanding of application engineering concepts
Knowledge/experience with querying databases for data lookup/update
Preferred
Experience in multiple technologies: mainframe, vendor applications, Java, SQL, and data transformations
Financial Services industry and/or Actuarial systems experience
Coach / mentor other team members as appropriate
