Responsibilities

Coordinates with plant management on project progress and impacts on plant operations

Conducts engineering analysis to improve plant efficiency, safety, and compliance

Provides financial analysis for Capital Projects and system upgrades

Collaborates with operations and maintenance for plant improvements

Drives business improvement through plant performance evaluation

Performs root cause and cost benefit analysis on performance issues

Develops equipment bid specifications and evaluates recommendations

Provides technical support to contractors and oversees contractual activities

Prepares reports, maintains records, and composes correspondence

Reviews procedures and investigates incidents for process improvements

Identifies training needs and provides safety and maintenance training

Provides budget recommendations for maintenance and operations

Develops and implements engineering goals and operational improvements

Required

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a power plant, or process facility preferably as a project engineer.

Must have a Bachelor’s of Science or Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Have demonstrated knowledge of the equipment, methods and materials used in the repair and maintenance of a power plant, or industrial process facilities

Have demonstrated knowledge of theory and relationships between components in power generation, or industrial process

Have demonstrated knowledge of various types of boilers and associated auxiliary systems in a power plant, and sugar industrial process

Skill in reading, interpreting, and analyzing information from instruments, charts, and schematic drawings as applicable

Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with co-workers and outside agencies

Skill in developing, implementing and overseeing through completion both long and short-term project plans

Skill in resolving problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment

Skill in preparing clear and concise written reports

Demonstrated client relationship skills at all levels, leadership ability, technical excellence and management skills, as well as strong project planning and budgeting skills

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner with plant employees at all working and management levels.

Ability to recognize operational inconsistencies and hazards in the work place and display proper judgment in dealing with them appropriately.

Ability to receive, comprehend and utilize OSHA required training.

Ability to ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and emergency egress situations.

Ability to work in contrasting plant environments

Ability to move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating, wet
