Responsibilities

Technically responsible for design and execution of assigned automation projects from kick-off through start up.
Provide maintenance support to existing high power rectifiers and SVC installations.
Lead the design and engineering project activities to develop an integrated process and electrical control solution.
Interpret control lists, customer drawings, schematics, P&IDs, electrical one-lines, and other customer specifications.
Aid in development of a complete controls package submittal including electrical design and sequence of operations.
Program controller and HMI applications using various ABB and 3rd party control/PLC systems.
Design field communications with a variety of industry standard bus protocols.
Configure associated HMI terminals and design control related networks.
Develop functional design specifications and support system test, installation, startup, and commissioning of integrated systems.
Work as part of a team or individually.

Required

Bachelor's degree in chemical, process, electrical, or mechanical engineering required.
4+ years of recent and direct experience required in controls and HMI hands-on work, configuring control Software and Hardware, design experience in controls panels, BoM and Submittal experience, control programming, experience in light and heavy industry control applications.
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Preferred

Helpful experience (but not required): ABB 800xA, AC800M (Control Builder), AC800PEC, AC500 (Automation Builder) and/or SLC/PLC-5 (RSLogix 500), Control/CompactLogix (RSLogix 5000) programming.
ABB Process Panel/CP600 and/or PanelView line HMI programming.
E3 Zuken and /or Autocad experience is an asset.
System integration, automation and/or electrical controls design and engineering.
Integration of 460VAC and/or 575VAC VFDs and other drive systems into control solutions.
Site start-up and troubleshooting.
Electrical design and/or power distribution experience a definite plus.
High Power Rectifier and Power Quality converter knowledge an asset.
Proven technical experience.
Project execution experience.
Strong organization and planning skills.
Strong analytical and excellent communication skills.
