Lead Safety Engineer

Responsibilities
Establish safety rules, regulations, and standards for all distribution centers.
Evaluate and refine accident investigation procedures.
Update safety strategy and procedures to ensure compliance with governmental safety regulations.
Track and report safety issues, align interventions to address negative trends.
Audit distribution centers for operational integrity and best practices.
Collaborate with the People department to develop safety policies and training strategies.
Conduct worker training on safety laws, hazardous conditions, and safety equipment use.
Document and update distribution center safety procedures and policies.
Ensure compliance with DOT requirements and safety regulations.
Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating security strategy.
Manage security equipment, services, and systems.
Develop investigation strategies and oversee investigations for theft and fraud incidents.
Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to the team.
Set goals for self, team, and organization, maintaining business acumen expertise.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required
Bachelor’s degree with 7 to 10 years of experience in safety related field
Experience in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulatory compliance including hours of service, vehicle inspections and maintenance, driver qualification, and record keeping
Experience in implementing best practices from environmental, health and safety perspective
Track record of success in leading or participating in cross-functional team initiatives
Safety certifications such as CSP, or CSHM desired
Efficiency in all Microsoft Office products
Strong organizational skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to develop effective relationships, provide leadership and integrate diverse organizations and individuals towards profitability and accuracy objectives
Must meet the requirements of Dealer Tire’s Motor Vehicle Record Policy and Company Vehicle Fleet Policy
Preferred
Experience in security and asset protection preferred
Experience dealing with OSHA and similar US agencies preferred
Project management experience with training in Lean and/or 6 Sigma is desired
Safety certifications such as CSP, or CSHM desired
