Responsibilities
Perform fiber optic characterizations to document dispersion, attenuation, and loss of an end-to-end optical system
Perform physical site readiness assessments for optical network infrastructure installation
Collaborate with customer and internal teams to validate low-level design documents
Create methods of procedure (MoP) documentation for optical network equipment
Develop customer-specific Acceptance and Testing Procedures (ATPs) for installed optical networks
Secure change windows for optical network installation or migration
Assess network capacity needs for managed services
Install optical network equipment
Perform optical test and turn up procedures
Provide operational turnover and knowledge transfer to customer staff
Offer guidance and support to junior team members
Maintain knowledge of optical networking technologies
Configure networks for smooth operation and business fulfillment
Qualification
Required
Bachelor’s Degree and 5-10 years of relevant product experience preferred; for Optical, strong technical background with substantial industry or military experience will be considered (minimum 5-10 years)
Strong organizational skills
Excellent oral and written communication, customer service, and presentation skills required
Experience in Optical and in the Service Provider industry is a must
Experience with fiber optic characterization (FOC) a plus
Experience with optical test equipment (OTDR, OSA, BERT, optical power meter)
Transport technologies (Ethernet, DWDM, ROADM, OTN)
Strong knowledge in fiber transmissions from short-haul to long-haul systems
Cisco ONS/NCS expertise
Cisco NCS 4K expertise
Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds
Recent experience in enterprise level Design or Architecture function required
Thorough understanding in the following areas: Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, Cisco Unity, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Unity Express, Cisco IOS Voice Gateways and Gatekeepers, Cisco Emergency Responder (CER), Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, Cisco WebEx, Cisco TelePresence Content Server, Cisco Digital Media Systems components (Digital Media Manager, Show and Share, MXE 3500, and Webex Social)
Recent experience in enterprise level Design or Architecture function required
Must have experience with majority of the following: Cisco ISE expertise, Routing and Switching expertise, Working technical knowledge of network and Security control protocols (CoS, PoE, NTP, DHCP), network management protocols (CDP, TFTP, SNMP) and security protocols (802.1x, Radius, SSH, HTTPS, AAA, IPSec), Strong knowledge IP communication and routing is required (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP); experience with inter-company routing is preferred, Understand WAN/LAN and transport technologies (Ethernet, MPLS, TDM circuits), Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio is required, RSA NetWitness experience, Palo Alto, F5, Checkpoint, RSA Archer expertise and/or experience, Iron Port Expertise, RSA Data Loss Prevention Suite, RSA multi-factor authentication, Cloud Security
Recent experience in enterprise level Design or Architecture function required
Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches, Nexus 5K & 7K, MPLS, WAAS, IPv6, WLAN Technologies, Security, NAC, Firewalls, Cisco Wireless Access Points and Controllers, RFID, Wireless Site Survey, RF Assessments and Design, Indoor and Outdoor Wireless Design, Infrastructure Design (Layer 1)
Recent experience in enterprise level Design or Architecture function required
Proficiency implementing networking technologies (Cisco, Brocade), Expertise on deploying compute technologies (Cisco, HP, Dell), Expertise implementing two or more storage technologies (EMC, NetApp, Hitachi, Pure), Certification or equivalent experience implementing converged technologies (FlexPod, VBlock, MetaPod), Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware)
Recent experience in enterprise level Design or Architecture function required
