Responsibilities

An experienced professional software QA engineer well-versed in SDLC processes who comes from a technical background.

Ability to take initiative is a must, such as suggesting and completing test plans without being prompted. Able to design and execute test scenarios for new software features.

Can perform functional testing, either via the webui or via API testing, as needed. Performs regression testing before weekly software releases. Will be testing on Mac and Windows hosts running multiple browsers. Will test native Backblaze applications on both Mac and Windows.

Identify, record and document reproducible steps thoroughly and track defects to resolution. Interact with developers to resolve defects, clarify functionality and resolve usability issues. Perform verification testing of fixed defects.

Familiarity with Python or similar scripting language in order to create scripts to facilitate testing. Must have familiarity with terminal window commands (ie Unix commands).

Experience with performance and security testing is a plus.

Contribute to continual QA process improvement efforts.

Required

10+ years of QA experience

Experience with Agile/Scrum

Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Enough familiarity with HTML, JSP, and the Java programming language to read engineer's source code submissions and hone in on the areas of the product that are changing and need additional testing

Cross platform (Mac/Windows/Linux) — don’t need to be an expert on all three, but cannot be afraid of any

Preferred

Familiarity with test automation software (such as Selenium or LeanFT)

Familiarity with TestRail test case management software
