Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service by performing front desk reception duties and serve as the first point of contact for all visitors to the various Executive/Administrative Offices.
Assist visitors in finding their way around the office and announcing visitors as necessary by providing information to various stakeholders, internal and external agency personnel, constituents, community leaders or elected officials.
Help maintain workplace security by checking and collecting badges as necessary and maintaining visitor logs.
Answer phones in a professional manner, and route calls as necessary.
Assist with a variety of administrative tasks including copying, faxing, distributing internal and external mail, taking notes, ad-hoc administrative duties and making travel plans.
Facilitate the booking of conference rooms for the executive senior leadership team.
Maintain office directories.
Prepare memoranda and other correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and other materials to support the Commissioner as needed.

Required

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Problem solving, organizing and planning skills.
This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
