Responsibilities

Supervise a multi-disciplinary team of technicians and specialists focusing on material characterization and mechanical testing
Collaborate with engineers to enhance lab capabilities and efficiency
Manage equipment maintenance, calibration, and expansion in the lab
Provide training for technicians and support skills development
Maintain schedules for testing and lab work, ensuring a well-organized lab space
Communicate schedules, lead times, and priorities to lab users

Required

2+ years of professional experience in either a materials characterization lab, mechanical test lab, or machine shop
1+ years of experience leading a team

Preferred

Experience with manufacturing mechanical test coupons with methods such as milling, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and waterjet
Direct experience running load frames doing mechanical test with knowledge of mechanical test standards
Experience using material characterization equipment such as a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), or metallography tools
Experience in post test data processing and understanding good vs bad data in results
Ability to troubleshoot and determine path forward for malfunctioning equipment in a mechanical test lab or machine shop
Strong sense of safety and understanding of safety procedures
Proven ability to iterate and improve efficiency and rate of execution
Experience effectively communicating (verbal and written) with both production and engineering teams
Highly organized, collaborative, and able to pivot quickly in a dynamic / fast-paced /cross-functional environment
Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
Infrequent travel to other SpaceX sites such as California or Florida
