Responsibilities

Participate on product and process innovation projects as directed. Quickly develop the knowledge and skills to lead innovation projects.
Perform trials in the manufacturing plants to determine the feasibility and cost impact of new product concepts and to improve the productivity and cost of existing processes.
Work closely with vendors to develop new materials and new capabilities as needed to support innovation initiatives.
Work with the global R&D Team to implement new-to-the-industry technologies in the US manufacturing plants.
Lead the new product sample creation process in support of the Design and Product Management Teams.
Provide technical design support to the Design Team.
Take ownership of the cross-functional new product development process to ensure new product launches are optimized for operational efficiency while achieving customer requirements.
Verify first production runs of new products are fully compliant with all specifications.

Required

Four-year engineering degree, preferably Mechanical or Materials engineering.
2-5 years’ work experience in manufacturing process development within the consumer goods market.
Previous experience working in high volume manufacturing and/or wood products is a plus.
Proven track record of successfully leading, managing, and implementing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Skilled at analyzing problems, identifying potential solutions and developing a test plan to validate solutions.
Experience in collecting and analyzing data to arrive at verified solutions.
Ability to lead, integrate, coordinate and communicate cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
Thrives in a fast-paced environment and tolerates ambiguity.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred

Ability to travel to multiple manufacturing sites within a 2-hour radius.
Normal office environment with significant time spent in the manufacturing plants.
Approximately 10% travel.
