Responsibilities

Understand functional principles of Kuiper satellite hardware, software and all backend services that enable the operation of our constellation.

Provide technical leadership and contribute to the definition, development and implementation of test solutions for integrated satellite hardware and software in an ambiguous and complex problem space.

Build software solutions to manage infrastructure needed to operate our system in development and production environments.

Lead technical roadmap definition efforts and decide what features and performance improvements to build.

Design and develop complex test commanding sequences that coordinate and synchronize equipment and services across multiple layers to verify function and performance of satellite hardware and software.

Instill best practices for software development documentation, making sure designs meet requirements, delivering high quality software on tight schedules

Automate build, test and deploy pipelines.

Required

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

3+ years of experience delivering software to a production environment.

Preferred

5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Experience with AWS tools and services

Experience implementing and debugging software to control and operate real-world hardware systems

3+ years of scripting or programming experience (Python, MATLAB, C, Labview)

Comfortable working with ambiguous problems, assessing risk, reducing uncertainty, and handling the pressure of mission critical operations

Commitment to operational excellence best practices including metric tracking and regular operations reviews.

Utilization of data-driven engineering approach and ability assess system performance with statistical analysis.

Strong communications skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and enjoyment of learning and teaching new skill
