Responsibilities

Provide technical support for project designers with the production of lighting projects.
Assist with conducting research and inspections of site conditions, equipment, layout, and systems.
Offer technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues for innovative lighting design.
Generate accurate documentation and specifications using electronic systems, artistic renderings, drawings, diagrams, and reports.
Perform lighting calculations, analysis, and rendering studies to inform project decisions.
Document lighting layouts in Revit and/or CADD.
Assist in lighting mock-ups and design presentations.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Exercise responsible decision-making and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Theater Production Design or closely related discipline.
5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in lighting design and studio experience.
Familiarity with process and concepts for sustainable lighting strategies, principles, and practices.
Strong creative skills with an ability to balance lighting aesthetics and client desires with practical concerns.
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Proficiency with artistic renderings, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
Proficiency with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD or Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft 365, InDesign or Sketchup and AGI32 or similar lighting software).
Ability to render using Photoshop or other similar software.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred

Working knowledge of energy codes and LEED.
A member of and/or actively participates in local professional practice organizations.
