Responsibilities

Initiation of Cancer Center COE Programming in line with the strategic goals of MECCC
Support the implementation of community outreach and engagement initiatives in the Cancer Center’s catchment area
Help coordinate psychosocial oncology programmatic, research, and evaluation efforts
Collect and maintain data regarding COE/BOLD activities
Assist in the development of COE progress reports for the Cancer Center
Facilitate the preparation of conference abstracts and presentations
Represent the Cancer Center at internal meetings and community events
Support the Cancer Center Community Advisory Board
Develop and maintain a process to plan and monitor progress of all COE activities
Work with the Deputy Director to identify and recruit potential candidates for the Community Advisory Board
Organize monthly agenda for CAB meetings, ensure all preparations, and complete and disseminate minutes
Prepare and present a monthly COE update to the CAB
Maintain a tracking database to track and evaluate cancer-relevant community events and programs
Assist in the preparation of new COE grant applications, IRB and project protocols
Facilitate engagement with community members for research and outreach efforts
Work with Cancer Center administration to create and maintain a MECCC COE website and social media presence
Supervise staff and volunteers including community health workers, study coordinators, consultants, and BOLD interns

Required

Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of related project management and/or community outreach or research experience
Experience supervising junior staff/volunteers.
Experience working with community partners on issues of public health and health equity
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have the ability to apply technology to resolve problems
Outstanding judgment, initiative, and attention to detail are essential. Must be able to manage competing priorities while supporting multiple COE activities
Can be relied upon to ensure that activities within areas of specific responsibility are completed in a timely manner and within available resources including staff resources and program budgets
Outline goals and timelines and reviews progress at defined intervals.
Ability to work well in a team setting and independently is essential.
Ability to liaise and develop strong working relationships with institutional, community and governmental partners and leaders
Must have critical thinking, analytical, problem solving, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have sound professional judgment and the ability to maintain confidential information.
Requires great attention to detail.
Must be able to manage multiple priorities.
Models a positive attitude and takes initiative as a self-starter.
Applies learning from past experiences to improve future efforts.
Understands and uses technology to accomplish goals.
