Responsibilities
Be a champion of excellence and responsible for the delivery, reliability, operation, and ownership of critical features and components within Venmo’s core application.
Lead a high-performing team of software engineers, solve complex business challenges, and drive growth, engagement, and monetization of Venmo.
Manage the technical roadmap for the scrum team, ensure alignment to a defined larger domain strategy, and inform technical decision-making to improve efficiency and productivity.
Establish a record of successful technical leadership, understand software architecture, and manage an engineering team delivering projects spanning platforms or groups.
Define and drive reliability best practices, bring efficiency through continuous improvement of systems, tools, and processes, and emphasize automation.
Work with a talented team, lead through ambiguity, help determine long-term strategy, and define the organization's engineering roadmap.

Required
A record of success in technical leadership, knowledge of software architecture, and cross-functional leadership competency.
A passion for building software and applications that delight customers and the love of delivering innovative solutions to complex problems
5+ years of experience in software engineering, architecture, and/or product development.
3+ years managing a geographically distributed engineering team
Advanced technical acumen in distributed systems design and full stack development, with the ability to connect well with technically savvy engineers and other stakeholders across the organization.
Demonstrate a high emotional quotient and empathy, with the ability to build trust and create psychological safety while tackling tough problems and navigating conflicts.
Practiced in incident management. You bring direction and clarity to ensure urgency in mitigation at the time of an incident and comprehensiveness in fast follow-ups with root cause analysis and corrective actions. Expertise in technical product management, including agile delivery methodology, planning, estimating, staffing, and executing. Practice agile methodologies faithfully.
Effective communication skills, both written and spoken.
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
