Responsibilities
Develop and implement an effective data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures for managing and ensuring data quality and integrity.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define data governance goals, objectives, and metrics to measure the effectiveness of the data governance program.
Monitor and assess data quality across various systems and databases, identifying areas for improvement and implementing measures to enhance data accuracy and consistency.
Establish and oversee data quality rules, definitions, and validation processes to maintain high standards of data accuracy and completeness.
Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations and organizational policies by overseeing data access controls, consent management, and data handling procedures.
Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and documentation.
Define and manage metadata standards, taxonomies, and ontologies to facilitate effective data classification, search, and retrieval.
Maintain and update metadata repositories and catalogs, ensuring consistent documentation of data assets, relationships, and lineage.
Collaborate with data stewards and business units to identify and assign data ownership responsibilities, ensuring data is managed effectively and in alignment with business needs.
Participate in regular data stewardship meetings and workshops.
Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees on data governance principles, policies, and best practices.
Foster a culture of data governance awareness and accountability throughout the organization.

Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field
Proven experience (3-5 years) in data governance, data management, or related roles
Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, data privacy, and regulatory compliance
Familiarity with data management tools (ex: Collibra), metadata repositories, and data modeling concepts
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey complex information to a non-technical audience
Analytical mindset and attention to detail for evaluating and improving data quality and governance processes
Knowledge of how data privacy regulations impact data governance practices
Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with a wide range of audiences and maintain interpersonal relationships
Ability to work within time constraints and manage multiple tasks against critical deadlines
Ability to perform basic problem solving and apply critical thinking, deductive reason, and inductive reasoning to identify solutions
Ability to drive tasks with minimal direction and supervision
Strong listening and presentation skills
Ability to self-start, multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
Preferred
Certifications related to data governance and data management (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are a plus
Agile/Scrum development methodology
Azure DevOps or similar
