Responsibilities
Design the next generation of public safety applications, including concept review, process evolution, and effort coordination.
Taking into account user needs, jobs to be done, and expectations of target audience within public safety, modify and refine designs to conform with specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends on public safety web applications.
Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.
Work with cross-functional teams, product managers and developers, to provide successful UX solutions and a seamless, engaging app experience to users.
Leverage industry best practices and tools to create wireframes, flows, and prototypes to communicate design intent to stakeholders.
Understand user and system requirements, create workflows, and develop interactive prototypes for public safety web applications.
Develop detailed workflows and micro interactions for edge cases.
Create reusable design elements from design library.
Collaborate with development teams to answer queries and help understand design interactions to ensure efficient implementation.
Evaluate and prioritize UX tasks.
Collaborate with research and development team to create a usability testing questionnaire and usability testing findings to recommend refined designs and satisfying interactions.

Required
Masters degree + 2 years experience or Bachelors degree + 5 years experience
Experience in designing public safety applications
Ability to modify and refine designs to conform with specifications and production limitations
Experience working with cross-functional teams, product managers, and developers
Proficiency in creating wireframes, flows, and prototypes
Understanding of user and system requirements
Experience in developing detailed workflows and micro interactions
Knowledge of creating reusable design elements from design library
Collaboration with development teams to ensure efficient implementation of design interactions
Experience in evaluating and prioritizing UX tasks
Collaboration with research and development teams for usability testing and refining designs
Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Ability to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 5%
Preferred
Experience in creating interactive prototypes for public safety web applications
Familiarity with industry best practices and tools in UX design
Experience in creating usability testing questionnaires and analyzing usability testing findings
