Responsibilities
Leads, supervises, and directs the engineering department including R&D, prototype development, tool design, manufacturing planning, and document control.
Manages outside engineering contractors or consultants.
Provides technical input in bid/proposal process and leads the NPI process.
Acts as a team leader for cause and corrective action team, participates in strategic planning and budgeting, and supports manufacturing as a technical liaison.
Mentors and coaches critical thinking and structured problem-solving, supports vendor development/selection, and travels to customers, vendors, and production facilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required
Knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP requirements
Experience with mechanical/physical testing and or chemical testing and analysis
Extensive knowledge of composite materials and adhesives for aerospace applications
Extensive knowledge of composite and metal bonding processes
Experience and/or knowledge of CATIA and Unigraphics
Knowledge of aerospace standards (AS, NAS, ASTM)
Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and practices, particularly Boeing
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in materials or aerospace engineering
Computer knowledge and skills, i.e., MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Project and Excel
Ability to lead a group of people in a constructive, productive and fair manner
Ability to manage numerous projects and meet deadlines as required
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars
Strong analytical and communication skills
