Responsibilities

Define the long-term vision, strategy, and goals for your team

Manage a development team responsible for the technology at the core of Amazon's network topology

Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment

Prioritize, plan projects and features, manage partners, and track external commitments

Deliver step-change improvements to our suite of tools while keeping an extremely high bar on customer trust

Foster the career development of your direct reports.

Required

3+ years of engineering team management experience

7+ years of engineering experience

Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment

Experience with delivering software projects using Agile / Scrum methodologies

Preferred

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline
