Responsibilities

Work on innovative projects promoting programs, services, initiatives, and information.
Develop, maintain, and enhance the new design system to ensure consistency and a high standard of user experience across all digital platforms.
Deliver user-centered designs focusing on accessibility standards, best practices, and user research.
Collaborate with the Creative Team and Web Team.
Report to the GIC Creative Director.
Lead design workshops and brainstorming sessions.
Ensure designs comply with accessibility standards and promote inclusivity.
Provide detailed design specifications, guidelines, and assets for development teams.

Required

A Bachelor's Degree in UX/UI Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or related field is desired.
2 to 5 years of experience in UX/UI Design is desired, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in design systems and accessibility.
Proven experience working on digital projects in the government or public sector is a plus.
Experience with common user research methodologies is a plus.
Proficiency in design tools (such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite), accessibility tools (WAVE, ANDI).
Familiarity with front-end development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and their impact on design.
Understanding of WordPress editor environments.
Ability to thrive in a remote setting and utilize collaboration tools such as Slack, Teams, and Wrike.
Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in an agile time-sensitive environment.
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Knowledge of accessibility standards WCAG 2.1 AA and higher as well as best practices.
