Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering related to fire protection design for multiple projects.
Develop and revise piping and instrument diagrams, formal calculations, and equipment datasheets and specifications in completing the detailed design for the system, including equipment selection.
Procure the equipment in accordance with applicable QA requirements.
Prepare communications to vendors and clients, review bid analyses, and make recommendations.
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
Review and disposition of field change notices and non-conformance reports.
Support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Lead safety analyses and hazard evaluations.
Have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

Required
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited university with a minimum of 7 years of related experience.
Professional Engineers license in Fire Protection Engineering
Previous experience in preliminary, front-end fire protection design and equipment selection for nuclear, nuclear chemical facilities, and nuclear waste processing.
Nuclear experience in working within DOE facilities and working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1 or equivalent.
Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, broad knowledge of the application of Fire Protection engineering design principles.
Practical work experience in equipment design and procurement
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of engineering planning and control methods.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (i.e. word, excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
Regular, reliable attendance
Work productively and meet deadlines timely
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
