Responsibilities
Research and Development: Conduct research to identify emerging trends, technologies, and materials relevant to progressive die stamping. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new and improved stamping processes, dies, and materials.
Die Design Optimization: Utilize your expertise in die design to optimize the performance of progressive dies. Identify areas for improvement, such as reducing cycle times, minimizing scrap, and enhancing part quality. Implement innovative design solutions to address these challenges.
Material Selection and Testing: Evaluate various materials for their suitability in progressive die stamping applications. Conduct material testing and analysis to assess performance characteristics such as formability, durability, and corrosion resistance. Recommend optimal materials for specific stamping requirements.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation within the progressive die stamping workflow. Implement advanced manufacturing techniques, robotics, and control systems to streamline production, improve consistency, and reduce costs.
Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure that stamped parts meet or exceed industry standards and customer specifications. Develop testing protocols, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to address any quality issues.
Prototype Development: Collaborate with design engineers to develop prototypes of new stamping products or components. Use rapid prototyping techniques to quickly iterate and refine designs based on feedback and testing results.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of R&D activities, including experimental procedures, test results, and design iterations. Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates to stakeholders.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (ex: Journeyman or NTMA Accreditation).
Proven experience in progressive die stamping, die design, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam, AutoCAD) for die design and simulation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, 13485) and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
