Responsibilities
Oversee the operations of the vessels’ engine and other mechanical systems.
Manage the equipment preventative maintenance schedule and document information as required.
Responsible for safe and alert watches of the engine room and machinery spaces.
Primary PIC for fuel oil transfers maintaining accurate records and the Oil Record Book.
Proper notification of any situation adversely affecting the environment, machinery, equipment, safety, and security of any engineering spaces, machinery, or equipment.
Coordinate the ordering and scheduling of supplies, parts, repairs, fueling, and maintenance with the Port Engineer and Master.

USCG Merchant Mariner Credential international and national endorsements capable of foreign voyages
USCG Merchant Mariner Credential international and national endorsements
Must Hold The Following International STCW Endorsements: OICEW (STCW III/1), RFPEW (STCW III/4), STCW Basic Safety Training (STCW VI/1), Advanced Fire Fighting (STCW VI/3), First Aid and Medical Care Provider (STCW VI/4), Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties (VPDSD) (STCW VI/6)
Must Hold The Following National Endorsements: Chief Engineer Limited (preferred), QMED rating, Ordinary Seaman, Wiper, Steward’s Department (F.H.), Tankerman PIC - Dangerous Liquid (DL) Cargoes endorsement
Must hold a valid USCG/STCW medical certificate
Must hold a valid TWIC card and U.S. Passport
Education/Experience: Five years’ experience as Chief preferred, ABS Nautical Systems NS5 experience preferred, High School Diploma
Physical Requirements: Able to work in confined spaces, carrying heavy tools, climbing and descending ladders, consistently asked to lift and carry loads at least 40 pounds, Must have current USCG STCW Medical Certificate, renewed every 2 years
Preferred
Proficiency in the use of survival craft (PSC) (STCW VI/2) is preferred
Familiarity with EMD 645’s and Detroit 8V71 Generators is preferred
