Responsibilities

Conduct Site Surveys and installations for Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) in CONUS and OCONUS locations.
Ensure design, installation, and network cabling infrastructure are compliant with current NIST and DISN Standards.
Configure Cisco, Ciena, Safenet network elements per Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) guidelines.
Assist with the development of method of procedures (MOP) and creating MBOM for power and network equipment requirements.
Execute tasks to bring the installed equipment into operational readiness.
Perform on site configuration of equipment and installation test and acceptance of network components.
Support senior staff to meet customer requirements and project milestones.
Assist with the preparation of engineering project packages and TSIPs for installation teams.
Perform redline updates to project deliverables and ensure changes are reflected on master documents.
Submit expenses, timecards, and other administrative tasks within specified timelines.
Test and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues.
Create accurate reports and documentation to design/certify network infrastructure.
Comply with all safety requirements and provide government and contractor project managers weekly status updates.
Perform other tasks, duties, and assignments as required.

Required

Must have an active Secret security clearance.
BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems and 4+ years of related experience in installation such as BICSI or Telcordia. Specific experience, education, and training may be considered in place of a degree.
Experience with surveys, installations, pulling and terminating cable, determining, and implementing required pin outs, installing, and configuring Ciena equipment, cards power supplies, racks, patch panels, etc., testing, and documenting installations, dressing, and labeling cables, racks, patch panels, etc.

ANSI/BICSI N1 + Installation Practices for Telecommunications and ICT Cabling and Related Cabling Infrastructure
ANSI/BICSI N3 + Planning and Installation Methods for the Bonding and Grounding of Telecommunication and ICT Systems and Infrastructure + Information Technology Systems Installation Methods Manual (ITSIMM) + Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM)
Job requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, and working in unusual positions requiring full body mobility.
Working knowledge of Ciena 6500, Ciena 5160, Ciena 5171, and other ancillary equipment.
Must have experience with DC power systems.
Knowledgeable and proficiency in M.S. Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), specifically Visio.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be always responsive to all customer issues and requests. Must be willing & able to travel at short notice.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform other installation activities.
Must be able to obtain DoD Directive 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (such as CompTIA Security+ CE) certification within a year from start date.

Preferred

DoD Directive 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (such as CompTIA Security+ CE) certification or higher.

BICSI certification
Field Service Engineering experience
Ciena Certification
