Responsibilities

Takes ownership for planning and managing large and complex project tasks
Formulates network designs and solutions to meet project requirements
Evaluates existing network designs and recommends improvements for efficiency and resiliency
Leads capacity planning and sets long-term strategic goals for networking systems
Develops and delivers presentations to internal audiences
Assists in procuring network hardware and software for implementation efforts
Supports deployment of various network devices and security systems
Maintains end-of-life documentation for network devices during budget planning
Implements and administers network hardware including routers, switches, and firewalls
Performs upgrades of network devices to ensure current operating systems and components
Conducts network, server, and security audits to maintain proper security posture
Optimizes network traffic routing and switching for efficiency
Establishes network connectivity for new branches, offices, and ATM locations
Monitors IT Service Management Systems and responds to network-related incidents
Creates and maintains network design diagrams and documentation
Coaches and guides team members with less experience
Participates in rotational on-call schedules

CCNP certification
Industry-related experience as a Network Engineer
Solid in network administration and architecture
In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers
Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
Familiarity with access control models and network security
Knowledge of networking hardware including CPUs, wiring, and routers
Familiarity with communication and routing protocols
Dependable and flexible when necessary
Network security experience
LAN and WAN experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or other technical related field or equivalent experience
Minimum 7 years’ experience supporting all facets of enterprise networks; including LAN/WAN connectivity, Voice Over IP, VPN’s, and network security
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise Infrastructure
Demonstrated ability to apply functional knowledge to analyze and resolve complex problems
Views processes and changes holistically and understands connections and impacts of changes on other processes and functions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external team members
Ability to review and analyze or interpret data and documentation and to make decisions regarding subsequent actions
Ability to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters and equally effectively remotely
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance

Preferred

Other professional certifications are nice-to-have (e.g. CCIE, CCDE, CISSP, CISM, ISSAP)
