Responsibilities

Prepares letters, memoranda, and reports in final form from drafts, entering them into ADAMS.
Reviews and proofreads outgoing correspondence, reports, memoranda, etc., for grammatical errors, completeness, and conformance with the required format.
Coordinates handling of controlled correspondence and action items, and maintains filing systems.
Retrieves and screens incoming telephone calls and visitors.
Coordinates the submission of time and labor input within assigned branches.
Maintains appointment calendars, coordinates meetings/conferences, and prepares the site office for visits by senior management.
Allocates and maintains office supplies and inventory of NRC property.
Conducts safe inventory to identify and dispose of outdated material.
Performs other administrative duties as assigned.

Background investigation leading to a clearance is required for new hires
Must meet the qualifications for this position by no later than 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position
Selectees may be required to serve a trial period to assess their overall fitness and qualifications for continued employment
One year of specialized experience at the GG-06 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Demonstrated experience performing a wide range of administrative and secretarial functions, such as preparing and proofreading correspondence, scheduling appointments, maintaining supervisor's calendar, arranging travel, etc.
Experience in the use of office automation tools such as Microsoft Office 365 Applications, automated time keeping system, automated travel system, etc.
Demonstrated skill to meet and deal tactfully and effectively with individuals at all levels, to exchange information, discuss administrative matters, and to gain understanding and cooperation in matters related to correspondence
Ability to review and discuss results tactfully and constructively for correspondence composed by others
Knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and correspondence procedures sufficient to prepare correspondence of an administrative nature and review outgoing material for correctness, proper format, and completeness
Demonstrated proficiency with microcomputer-based word processing applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), appointment calendars, emails, and other database applications that are used to maintain automated tracking systems
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in handling multiple assignments with competing priorities, often under considerable pressure to meet deadlines
