Responsibilities

Participating in formal classroom training and other developmental activities to gain full certification as an NRC Inspector.
Inspecting licensee performance at nuclear facilities and performing direct inspections during operation phases.
Planning, preparing, and performing in-depth inspections at assigned plants to ensure compliance with design specifications and operating license conditions.
Ensuring inspection program completion as per specified schedules in official documents.
Preparing and presenting inspection reports describing findings and conclusions regarding safety performance and conformance with NRC requirements.
Assisting in handling allegations and tracking their status.
Becoming qualified through the NRC Inspection Manual Chapter 1245 process within two years.
Seeking reassignment to a Resident Inspector position after completion of training and qualification process.

Drug Testing position
Background investigation leading to a clearance is required for new hires
Qualification as an NRC inspector is expected within two years
Security Clearance Level Required is "LH"
Geographic mobility is a condition of employment for selection under this announcement
Mobility Agreement is required
Trial period for new employees is two years
Basic education requirements for professional engineering positions
Specialized experience in relevant professional engineering disciplines
Recent experience in the industry of commercial, government or military nuclear power is preferred
Knowledge of nuclear industry standards, rules, and regulations
Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing

Preferred

Recent experience associated with applying any of a variety of relevant professional engineering disciplines (e.g., nuclear, electrical, mechanical, metallurgical, structural, chemical)
Recent experience with reactor facilities, commercial, government, or military nuclear power plant operations
Demonstrated ability to evaluate activities and events, develop inspection findings, and evaluate adequacy of corrective actions
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful approaches to problem-solving and conflict resolution
Experience as a power plant operator or in a staff position in operations
Experience associated with plant operations
Experience in evaluating licensee performance at nuclear facilities
