Responsibilities

You will help create department/company technical strategies that map to the company goals

You will participate in and help drive cross-departmental problem solving activities.

You design solutions for large sized complexity problems in such a way that is simple and easy to understand by the company leaders

You will directly and indirectly mentor others within the department/company to ensure that the team and department are always moving forward.

You create, design and implement deliverables and processes that add to the department’s/company’s success.

You will consistently increase productivity skills by constantly improving knowledge of core infrastructure and tooling, as well as testing best practices

You consistently have the ‘bigger’ picture understanding of business and company goals, and are effective at articulating the concepts to different types of audiences.

You will be promoting and leading by example on key engineering principles.

You will own deliverables within the department, and held accountable for its success

You proactively seek feedback from team members regarding “areas of improvement” in your impacted work streams and/or projects, and own actions to improve these areas, as well as delegate accordingly.

You consistently speak within company events and outside conference-like events.

Required

Deep expertise around the Jupyter ecosystem. Understand its architecture and have done extensive work building upon and extending it to provide improved practitioner workflows.

Direct, first-hand experience integrating AI into the Jupyter ecosystem, and have a well-informed practical perspective on how to approach applying AI for improving developer and data practitioner workflows in general.

Strong passion for open source, likely been a maintainer or strong contributor to data-related OSS packages. Understand how to create a respectful mutually beneficial commercialization approach around open source work.

Thorough knowledge of Python and other programming languages, frameworks, and/or specialized systems. Able to discern and articulate the strengths and gaps between them.

Thorough understanding of software development processes and workflows.

Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences and levels.

Ability to facilitate resolution of technical conflicts and help the team understand trade-offs.

Understanding the direction of technology innovation and able to bring that expertise to the company.
