Responsibilities

Provide tier 3 support to customers on their Internet and VoIP services.

Work with customers via phone and e-mail to identify and resolve service-related issues.

Clearly document all steps taken to identify and resolve customer reported issues.

Maintain system standards and current operating systems.

Research, recommend, innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for systems administration tasks.

Perform daily system monitoring.

Verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, system, and key processes.

Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs including backups.

Apply operating system patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.

Configure and add new services as necessary.

Maintain operational configurations and procedures.

Remote work permitted.

Required

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation

Experience training Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff

Experience with datacenter processes and internet service provider industry standards or best practices

Experience configuring, deploying and maintaining Juniper, Cisco, series routers, switches, firewalls in a service provider area

Knowledge of network protocols (specifically TCP/IP) and dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)

Certification in JNCIA or CCNA

Experience with dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)

Proficiency in programming languages used for scripting or automation of routine tasks including SHELL, AWK, PERL, or Python
