Responsibilities

Develop and maintain data extraction, transfer, and loading (ETL or ELT) from various sources using Python, SSIS or other tools.

Implement appropriate security measures throughout the data pipeline.

Maintain metadata management and data quality activities to ensure accurate, reliable, and documented data.

Provide timely data to support strategic planning, student success initiatives, and educational and operational effectiveness.

Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL server including setting and managing system controls.

Collaborate with stakeholder teams to gather requirements and design database schemas for new SQL databases.

Create extract, transform, and load procedures to automate population of structured databases containing healthcare data.

Implement procedures to ensure data cleanliness and integrity.

Develop BI reports using visualization tools to address critical business needs.

Understand data requirements for projects and provide self-service reporting to address those needs.

Maintain data storage compliance with regulatory and security guidelines.

Stay updated on industry best practices and recommend tools for improving data management and utilization.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required

Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative fields.

A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Data Engineer, Systems Analyst, Database Administrator, or similar role, required.

Strong SQL knowledge, experience as a SQL database administrator.

Experience extracting data from a variety of relational and non-relational sources.

Experience building useful BI reports (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).

Preferred

Familiarity and experience with Azure and specifically Azure Synapse including Dedicated SQL Pools and Data Factory a plus.

Knowledge of scripting languages (R, Python, Java, etc.).

Familiarity with healthcare terminology and data formats.

Intermediate use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook. Experience using Student Information System (SIS).
