Responsibilities

Lead exploratory and evaluative research projects using various methodologies for web-based geospatial software
Partner with product and design leadership to develop a research roadmap and collaborate with stakeholders
Utilize multiple data sources to answer research questions and ensure inclusive research and design approaches
Contribute to internal processes to enhance research rigor and scalability
Advocate for human-centered research and design internally and externally

Required

5+ years of experience conducting and leading user experience research on enterprise software products
Expert-level knowledge of qualitative, participatory, and mixed-method research methodologies and their execution across remote, in-person, moderated, and unmoderated formats
Expert-level knowledge of design patterns and common usability challenges for web software or data-focused applications
Demonstrated knowledge of research strategies and design considerations for complex enterprise software
Eagerness to learn ArcGIS software and understand the field of GIS
Experience recruiting participants from specialized B2B audiences, international users, and people with disabilities
Understanding of the practical and ethical considerations surrounding informed consent, user privacy, data management, and participant representation
A holistic and collaborative approach to defining and solving problems and the ability to triangulate insights across varied sources of evidence
Proactive approach to engaging with internal subject matter experts to inform product understanding and research projects
A strong sense of ownership, transparency, flexibility, and ability to self-initiate projects
Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills as well as the ability to make complex ideas easily understandable and actionable
Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills evidenced by the ability to self-manage and appropriately scope and manage collaborative research projects
Bachelor's in human-computer interaction, information science, anthropology, psychology, sociology, or related field

Preferred

Knowledge of geographic information system (GIS) technologies, digital mapping, data analysis or visualization applications, database management, or common coding languages in GIS such as R and Python, JavaScript, APIs
Familiarity with accessibility standards and software localization, internationalization, and translation
Familiarity applying quantitative methods to the exploration and analysis of software usage data
Familiarity with development and product management tools such as GitHub, Confluence, and Productboard
Experience with product development methodologies, such as Agile and Scrum
Master's in human-computer interaction, information science, anthropology, psychology, sociology, or related field
