Responsibilities

Use standard monitoring tools (SolarWinds) to ensure network availability and eliminate configuration drift.

Troubleshoot, configure, and operate network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and wireless controllers.

Develop, implement, and optimize network solution designs.

Follow standard procedures for deploying new network hardware.

Manage and maintain network diagrams.

Manage and maintain network asset database.

Partners with, and supports, the business to maintain optimal services.

Travel as necessary to facilities across North America, expected travel 10 - 15%.

Participate in on-call rotation (one week every 6-8 weeks).

Follow all documented standard operating procedures in accordance with IT security policies.

Engage with key vendors and service providers.

Ensure network infrastructure is maintained and updated with applicable firmware and security hotfixes.

Create different ways to solve the existing problems and incidents.

Drive to automate where opportunities are identified.

Research the latest technologies and services that improve the overall infrastructure.

Understand key vendors’ solution roadmaps.

Participate in the development, and continuous improvement, of network roadmaps.

Required

Bachelor's Degree in IT or 2+ additional years of experience

3+ years of practical network services experience

Strong understanding of the guiding principles of the standard OSI model

Solid understanding of network layer 2 concepts such as VLANs, spanning tree, 802.1q trunking, and wireless networking

Solid understanding of network layer 3 concepts including network routing concepts such as BGP, EIGRP, and static routing

Solid understanding of network layer 4 concepts such as TCP and UDP

Proven understanding of SDWAN technologies

Demonstrated understanding of application data flow on a network

Possesses proficient level technical knowledge and skills and a fundamental knowledge of how network technologies are integrated

Understanding of basic authentication and network access concepts including ISE, TACACS, Kerberos, and other AAA services

Proven understanding of network automation and DevOps practices using Python and/or Ansible

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Skilled in communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences

Excellent collaboration skills in working together with others across all IT segments

Skilled in solving highly complex problems and translating business requirements into technical solutions

Skilled understanding of ITSM

Able to apply business knowledge to develop and deliver innovative, value-added improvements

Proven ability to operate and effectively communicate while under pressure; as well as the ability to manage a diverse workload and work under time constraints with minimal supervision
