Responsibilities

Oversees underground distribution design projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and compliance with industry standards.

Manages multiple concurrent projects related to underground distribution design.

Provides leadership to internal and subcontractor design teams, assigns tasks, sets goals, and conducts performance evaluations.

Offers training, guidance, and support to the design teams, sharing insights into best practices and innovative solutions.

Mentors and coaches all levels of the distribution design team.

Interprets company and industry policies, resolves design disputes, and ensures team compliance with standards.

Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, encourages feedback and knowledge sharing.

Collaborates with internal stakeholders to coordinate design efforts and resolve design-related issues.

Identifies process optimization opportunities, implements changes to enhance workflow efficiency.

Provides work performance metrics, conducts meetings, and completes special assignments.

Reviews underground distribution design packages, identifies trends, and contributes to department and company goals.

Required

High school diploma required

5-8 years of experience within the electric utility industry

3+ years of team supervisor or team lead experience with the ability to train and lead internal team and subcontractors

Working knowledge of California utility underground standards and applications

Strong understanding of underground electric utility distribution designs and construction standards, applicable codes, and industry practices

Experience designing and conducting training for team members

Excellent leadership and communication skills with an ability to inspire and influence cross-functional teams

Must be adaptable and flexible to change

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines

High level of personal integrity with a strong work ethic

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree: Electrical Degree/Certification preferred

Qualified Underground Designer

8+ years of experience in Electric Distribution Design

PLS-CADD knowledge
