Responsibilities

Lead the efforts of development team(s) across multiple time zones.
Ensure consistent software architecture and coding practices in applications.
Mentor less experienced staff and raise technical expertise within the organization.
Inform stakeholders on progress and recommend modifications to meet deadlines.
Define roles and responsibilities within the development team and align resources with priorities.
Collaborate with Product Owners and Scrum Masters on feasibility analysis and technical design plans.
Liaise with Production Support teams for timely handoffs and documentation.
Work with architects to determine technical solutions and applications for products.
Lead implementation efforts for new applications and code updates.
Stay updated on technology trends, recommend product directions, and define application roadmaps.
Review and approve coding, documentation, testing procedures, and ensure quality standards are met.
Ensure compliance with security, privacy, legal, and corporate processes.
Collaborate with Production Support and Shared Services teams to support products and customers.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Administration or equivalent educational or professional experience and/or qualifications.
10+ years of experience working in supporting multiple software projects in various IT roles.
Experience performing systems analysis of Mainframe life insurance administration systems.
Prior/Current experience in Life insurance Products
In-depth insurance domain knowledge.
Experience performing systems analysis of Mainframe life insurance admin system using COBOL language.
Experience working with DB2 or any relational database.
In-depth knowledge of software development lifecycles including Agile development and testing.
Excellent written and verbal communications, organization, analytical, planning and leadership skills.
Strong management, communication, technical and remote collaboration skills.
Excellent team collaboration skills, including experience in dealing with multiple projects and multi-functional teams, and ability to coordinate across teams in a large matrix organization environment.
Strong relationship building and maintaining skills. Fosters a climate conducive to establishing positive working relationships with clients (internal and external).
Proven ability to take leadership role in projects that span multiple teams, ability to deliver on time working in a fast-paced agile environment.
Proven track record of developing and supporting large scale business critical systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; solid understanding of coding aesthetics, able to review code, and provide suggestions.
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment where many of your teammates are remote and/or in different time zones.
Has strong presentation and collaboration skills and can clearly articulate all aspects of the job requirements, including the creation of formal documentation.
Ability to travel up to 10%
