Responsibilities
Comply with all environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping programs.
Plan and formulate engineering projects program and organize engineering staff according to project requirements.
Develop, design and submit assigned projects for approval; manage approved projects; assist engineers with the same.
Supervise engineering staff, assigning work to and monitoring performance of engineers.
Provide engineering input into new projects requested for development, including process improvements requested by operations.
Review project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, internal customer requirements, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
Minimize costs associated with the introduction of new technology to the plant while complying with all safety and environmental standards as well as capital budget limitations.
Confer with management and production staff to discuss project specifications, design, implementation, and procedures.
Assist plant management in developing annual capital budgets and spending plans.
Prepares interim and completion project reports.
Create, maintain and present weekly project update reports.
Conduct Pre-Startup Safety Reviews for completed projects.
Prepare and/or update procedures and work instructions for new equipment/processes.
Assist with troubleshooting process problems and identify engineering solutions which reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs.
Other duties as assigned.

Required
Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
Proficiency in Office software (Word, Excel, etc)
BSME, BSCHE, BSEE, BSIE or equivalent experience
7+ years hands-on experience in heavy manufacturing industry, mechanical systems troubleshooting, design, fabrication, manufacturing, installation and operations
Two to three years supervisory experience
AutoCAD/Solidworks experience
Preferred
Metals recovery, smelting and converting; ferrous and non-ferrous metals selection and application; high temperature refractory and metals selection and application; large capacity air/gas/02 fired furnaces; CMMS and EAM application, implementation and utilization; SCAQMD, OSHA, NIOSH, Industrial Ventilation requirements, permitting, standards and regulations; ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, & OHSAS 18000 awareness
