Responsibilities
Performs operations necessary to assemble and test a wide variety of aerospace and industrial mechanical shaft seals.
Works from drawings, instructions, or knowledge of shaft seal components and functions. Set up and operate machines such as milling, drilling machines, arbor press, and furnace to perform operations such as keyway cutting, making keys, drilling, tapping, etc.
Makes simple layouts for angles, keyways, bolt circles, segmenting, etc. Bend material to form wave washers and springs. Deburr, polish, and clean components.
Sets up test equipment to perform static and dynamic leakage tests at high or low pressures and speeds; mount seal and hook up piping per specifications.
Monitors leakage and vibration during test run; diagnose problems with seals that do not test to specifications.
Completes test report sheets.
Disassembles and inspects customer returned seals to determine reconditioning required.
Directs and assists bench operators.
Keeps supervisor informed of major difficulties.
Keeps work area clean, safe, and orderly.
Equipment Used includes and is not limited to: Milling & drilling machines, arbor press, furnace, deburr, testing equipment.

Required
US Citizenship Required
HS diploma or GED required
Requires continuous attention to operations
Must be able to lift 35lbs
Preferred experience in manufacturing or mechanical environment
All hourly employees will be part of the United Steelworkers Union (USW)
Position is on the 3rd Shift (11pm – 7am)
