Responsibilities
Individual contributor and owner. Take complete ownership of tasks and execute them in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. Do not shy away from technologies you haven't worked with before and are eager to learn.
Tend to nighttime deployments, production outages/pagers, etc.
Take a proactive approach to solving problems and preventing future issues.
Manage deployments and architecture asks from engineering teams including issuing certificates, creating containers, managing inbound/outbound rules, load balancing, proxying, etc.
Evaluate current architecture for pitfalls and design improvements.
Manage permissions for other teams and users considering fine-grained, least privilege, and credential lifecycle management.
Advocate for observability and uptime, enforce maintaining dashboards, alerting, health checks/monitors.
Implement robust security measures including identity and access management, secrets management, encryption, and compliance (PCI especially).
Work with CISO on disaster recovery procedures and security breach drills.
Communicate project timelines for service upgrades and patching with engineering.
Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture and processes.

Required
Strong Kubernetes (GKE) architectural and administrative experience…specifically with Istio, external-dns, FluxCD, and cert-manager.
Proven leadership and owner experience in cloud technologies, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior role or 5 years total experience.
Strong understanding of security principles related to networking and systems.
Strong knowledge of the best practices surrounding always-on, always available services (5 nines/6 nines).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred
Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
Experience managing CI/CD tooling and processes.
Experience with PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance is a huge plus.
General familiarity with DevOps best practices and tools.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
