Responsibilities
Driving a high-performance software team to increase the delivery pace and quality of the product
Developing plans for leading process improvement, internal initiatives across teams/managers
Looking for gaps, opportunities to help drive organization change and coordinating action to move forward
Influencing others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures
Coaching and developing team members and managers
Leading a global team of software and quality engineers
Designing, implementing, and testing solutions for the areas of the application owned by the team
Understanding, demonstrating, driving towards Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices
Taking ownership of the team's product areas running in production
Resolving production issues and defects for solutions owned by the team
Ensuring proper team and cross-team communication practices
Approximately 20% travel to meet with teams and plan product initiatives, may include international travel

Required
10-12 years of relevant professional experience
Significant experience within cloud software development
Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and written and oral communication skills
Proven track record of managing and growing high performing teams providing education or enterprise SaaS
Considerable experience with Java and SQL on database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, and Postgres
Experienced with current web development technologies like Spring, jQuery, Angular, React, and Typescript
A working understanding of software engineering best practices and Agile methods
Experience working with product management at a senior management level
Experience with large consumer-facing applications
Experience working with and leading teams outside of the USA
Fluency in written and spoken English
Preferred
5 or more years of experience with Blackboard Learn or another LMS suite
Experience in implementing XP (Extreme Programming) practices
Experience with cloud-based hosting solutions (AWS)
