Responsibilities
Supervise a group of engineering technicians, aides, and other technical staff engaged in drafting, plans design, writing specifications, reviewing working plans, conducting related technical research, and other field and office technical activities.
Gather and analyze data, determine production standards, and review drawings and plans for accuracy, completeness, and project feasibility.
Maintain the efficient operation of a departmental Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) system and provide system support to end users.
Provide an advisory service to City officials charged with responsibility for maintaining the city street plan.

Required
Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status in the Streets Department with a performance rating of Satisfactory or higher
Completion of a two-year program at a technical institute, or an accredited college or university with major coursework in building construction technology, architectural design, architectural technology, or civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering technology
Four years of experience in surveying and/or related city street design
Two years of experience supervising the work of two or more survey corps or as a Streets Plans Designer, computing and drafting plans for new and modified streets
Possession of or eligibility to obtain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license as issued by the state of Pennsylvania if required by work assignment
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class
Candidates MUST submit a copy of their official college or university transcript(s) indicating completion of the educational requirement and all required licenses, registrations, or certifications at the time of application
Candidates MUST submit a copy of their license, registration, or certification
