Responsibilities
Occasionally travel out of town for short periods as required by projects and assignments.
Conduct site visits both onshore and offshore to gather existing data, survey available space, and support facility upgrades, modifications, or remediation.
Conduct walkdowns of oil and gas facilities, creating flow schematics by redlining or sketching from scratch, and coordinate with the drafting department to convert these into CAD drawings.
Effectively coordinate and interface with a wide range of personnel including engineers, designers, vendors, and management.
Develop, design, and/or review P&IDs, mechanical flow sheets, safety flow diagrams, regulatory submittals (e.g., BSEE, USCG, and ABS), engineering studies, liquid and gas piping systems, and process design basis documentation.
Perform and/or review process/mechanical engineering studies (e.g., de-bottlenecking, vent/relief, hydraulic analysis, pipe stress, API 14C compliance, firewater/deluge, material selection) and develop associated reports and spreadsheets.
Conduct sizing calculations for process and utility equipment, piping, in-line instruments, valves, and pipelines using available tools and process simulations; develop process flow diagrams with associated heat and material balance tables.
Engage in process hazards analysis and risk identification.
Participate in Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and/or Detailed Engineering for Greenfield or Brownfield design projects.
Design process systems (e.g., production separation, sour production sweetening, oil and gas dehydration, produced water treatment, export metering) and utility systems (e.g., fuel gas, chemical injection, instrument air, diesel, heat medium, cooling, drainage, power generation).
Interface with vendors for the design of static and rotating equipment packages (e.g., pressure vessels, tanks, pumps, compressors, engines).
Prepare, modify, and/or review data sheets and technical specifications for process equipment, instruments, manual and actuated valves, piping systems, and specialty items.
