Responsibilities
Assign and direct all approved engineering projects.
Oversee product design for manufacturing feasibility, legal considerations, design integrity, and marketing potential.
Approve engineering cost estimates before submission to the VP of Engineering.
Coordinate Engineering Change Notices and Releases with affected departments.
Enforce priorities set by upper management to ensure adherence to new product schedules.
Implement training sessions for engineering personnel as needed.
Stay current with the latest technology in materials, design, and manufacturing processes.
Investigate reported product problems and recommend corrective actions.
Provide technical assistance to Engineers in the development of new products.
Conduct periodic design review meetings with relevant departments.
Ensure strict adherence to corporate design quality system requirements and procedures.

Required
Thorough knowledge of the design and development of mechanical components and systems.
Working knowledge of test engineering, manufacturing operations, and engineering processes and procedures.
High level of analytical ability.
Proficiency in interactive management, program management, FMEA, FEA, DVP&R, QS9000, TS16949, and PPAP tools.
Strong financial understanding of product costing.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts within the company to achieve objectives.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience in product design, development, and manufacturing.
