Responsibilities

Manage internal and outsourced customer order engineering activities with emphasis on assigning work to meet customer commitments, reducing customer order risk, supporting customer order schedules and meeting cost targets.
Continuously improve the process for customer order engineering. Improve the standardization of information and engineering processes and procedures.
Oversee disposition of engineering Material Review Reports (MRR) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN). Monitor and report on their completion.
Oversee the maintenance of and enhancements to the electronic library containing product, peripheral, and control systems documentation.
Ensure engineering documentation is created and stored in accordance with CPSD and Company quality and retention policies.
Provide engineering support to Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing/Supply Chain and Quality as needed.
Lead the creation and implementation of Engineering Department QSPs, SOPs, WIs and relevant metrics.
Manage the technical aspect of product purchasing specifications to ensure products that are procured or manufactured locally are consistent across vendors.
Prepare and deliver monthly ECN, BOM, customer drawing performance, and engineering status reports.
Manage the drafters, designers and engineering staff according to Company policies and procedures to achieve division and department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross-training and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
Oversee the verification of all technical drawings and documentation according to the defined procedures.
Integrate computer file documents of customers, suppliers, MELCO, TMEIC and MEPPI with various CAD systems and file transfer protocols.
Perform administration and programming of CAD system, review, evaluate and perform specifications of documentation in conjunction with engineering staff.
Travel to vendor and customer sites and/or trade shows to provide support, as required.
Schedule project engineering and drafting resources. Track hours, ensure accurate accounting and report variances.
Audit engineering quality controls including design and drawing reviews.
Facilitate collection of design inputs from standards, specifications, clients and vendors.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field with a minimum 7 years of experience with engineering or drafting and design and a minimum 3 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Advanced knowledge of drafting standards and industry techniques, processes and methods.
Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills required to communicate with employees and vendors.
Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
Advanced computer skills, with emphasis on Microsoft Office products, CAD and engineering analysis software.
