Responsibilities

Proven experience implementing security controls from NIST 800-53, including risk assessment, security categorization, selection of security controls, and control implementation

Understanding of control baselines and tailoring controls to meet specific organizational needs

Strong understanding of network security concepts, protocols, and technologies (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs)

Experience configuring and managing firewalls and switches for secure network segmentation and access control

Experience with virtualization technologies and hypervisors (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)

Proficiency in building and configuring both Windows and Linux virtual machines (VMs) for various purposes

Understanding of operating system security hardening techniques for relevant platforms (Windows, Linux) to include STIGs or other industry standards

Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) for automating security tasks is a plus

Required

US Citizenship is Required

Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense security clearance required

Candidate must be SAP and SCI program eligible

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a security engineering role

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

DoD 8570 IAT level II Certifications such as: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP

Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems, cloud security concepts and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and type-1 encryptors

Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) for automating security tasks is a plus
