Responsibilities
Oversee the full stack engineering team, ensuring all projects align with company goals and client expectations.
Act as a technical lead, providing guidance and expertise in software development best practices.
Recruit and mentor staff to grow the team’s capability and their individual talent.
Review product requirements and feature requests, providing development effort estimates and risk assessments to senior management.
Influence architectural decisions, design/code reviews, test plans, and technology strategy.
Manage multiple concurrent projects to deliver committed features on time.
Foster an environment of continuous improvement in software engineering practices and product quality in terms of performance, scalability, availability, and flexibility.
Work closely with other software development teams as well as product line management, quality assurance (QA), technical support, and external contractors.
Mediate conflicts between individual contributors or between contributors and directors. Ensure that issues are resolved in a way that maintains team harmony and productivity.

Required
Familiar with Linux development environment
Knowledge of network routers/switches and the networking industry
Experience in open-source software development
Familiarity with cloud native application development
Experience with distributed systems, Java, Python based micro-services
Familiarity with React based UI frameworks. Familiarity with GraphQL API is a plus
Familiarity with BPMN, business processes, and Workflow Automation and Management.
Preferred
Familiarity with Ciena Hardware and Solutions is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in electronics and communications engineering, computer engineering or computer science and 8 years of experience in a software development role, in the networking domain
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role and/or people management role
Proficient in modern software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices
Experience in mentoring and growing a team of developers
