Responsibilities
Translating the specifications of OEMs into technical specifications for regional applications;
Creating standard operating procedures and tools that empower internal stakeholders and enable them to work effectively and efficiently toward developing new projects;
Defining and maintaining energy storage equipment standards to be used by the design engineering team;
Collaborating with the New Leaf Energy team and vendors to maintain accurate and competitive cost models to facilitate costing for new projects;
Providing value engineering and other technical sales support for design engineering, project developers, and the finance team;
Supporting the evaluation of new equipment components and other direct cost reduction initiatives with key stakeholders from electrical and design engineering teams;
Defining standard engineering deliverables that enable our project teams to dramatically improve their execution efficiency;
Managing and solving key challenges that arise during development, and creating a central location to store that knowledge;
Training new engineers on our energy storage systems and designs;
Learning from internal customers in the office and in the field, and managing closed feedback loops to continuously improve our standard product design and deliverables;
Participating in interdisciplinary Kaizen events to improve our process.

Required
3-5 years’ experience with commercial or utility-scale energy storage and solar PV development, design or construction
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or other engineering discipline
Demonstrated understanding of the market for commercial and utility-scale energy storage engineering services
Experience with designing and modeling renewable energy coupled with energy storage
Experience and familiarity with commercially available storage technologies
Working knowledge of fire and building codes, electrical standards (UL/IEEE) and National Electrical Code, U.S. utility interconnection standards
Familiarity with Lean problem-solving techniques and tools and excellent problem-solving skills
A strong entrepreneurial drive and desire to impact the company’s performance
Excellent communication skills
Strong team leadership skills
Comfortable working with a collaborative team in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment
