Responsibilities

Plans and assigns work, reviews engineering projects completed or in progress; trains, supervises, and evaluates staff.

Prepares and/or directs the preparation of plans, estimates, maps, property descriptions, detailed drawings and specifications; makes preliminary designs and estimates for determining budgetary needs for construction and design projects.

Makes engineering analyses and prepares reports and estimates in connection with engineering and budgetary aspects of assigned project.

Reviews and supervises checking of construction plans and subdivision maps and plans; inspects or initiates inspection of projects during construction and upon completion to determine conformance with standards and specifications.

Meets with other departments, agencies or the general public regarding plans, problems and joint projects.

Assists in the preparation of division budget.

Required

Two years as an Engineering Assistant II in San Joaquin County Service

Completion of 60 semester units from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering science, construction management, or a related field

Six years performing field and office engineering work with at least two years experience comparable to an Engineering Assistant II in San Joaquin County

Possession of a valid California driver’s license
