Responsibilities
Create unique visuals including photo collages, comics, and other illustrations
Work with reporters and the data team to create infographics and data visualizations
Art direct pieces under the supervision of the Visuals Director
Help recruit and maintain a strong pool of local freelance talent
Pitch ideas for visually driven stories
Assist with digital presentation and interactive elements
Collaborate with reporters and editors on stories

Required
Minimum 3 years of experience in news design, illustration, and art direction.
Proficiency in creating graphics, infographics, and data visualizations.
Passion for storytelling and translating complex stories across multiple platforms.
Fluency in Adobe design programs.
Willingness to experiment with new techniques and styles.
Familiarity with best practices for designing across multiple digital platforms.
Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
Availability to work some nights and weekends as needed based on news requirements.
Commitment to upholding journalist values and ethics.
