Responsibilities
Responsible for data collection, analysis, and research for recreation, parks, and cultural activities.
Increase public use of parks, cultural venues, recreation facilities, and open space through marketing campaigns and brand awareness.
Manage marketing materials and placement, including graphic design, publication, distribution, and social media.
Oversee the department's public information function for effective communication with the public and customers.
Manage the department's online presence, including the website, registration software, and social media.
Supervise public information specialists, contract staff, and coordinate with division marketing liaisons.
Collaborate with Park Planning, manage community surveys, and develop marketing and communications plans.
Create graphic design materials, manage the marketing budget, and represent the department at public meetings.

Required
4-year College Degree with successful completion of college-level courses in fine arts or business management
Five years of progressively-responsible marketing experience or a combination of experience and training
Expertise on parks and recreation, employee engagement, high performing organizational culture, and change management
Ability to work with employees throughout the department and City of Alexandria
Personal mission and values align with those of the organization
Ability to analyze, synthesize and make data-informed professional recommendations
Deliver work products that meet high standards of excellence determined by residents and visitors
Preferred
Progressively responsible experience marketing for a public sector or cause-based organization
Successful completion of a criminal records background check
