Responsibilities
Troubleshoots and resolves remote WAN Interface Down incidents (Cisco, Juniper, Arista Routers).
Troubleshoots and resolves routing, ACL, and policy incidents on routers (Cisco, Juniper, Arista).
Troubleshoots and resolves Circuit Down incidents on optical systems (Ciena, Cisco).
Modifies and troubleshoots firewall rules (FortiNet).
Modifies and troubleshoots DNS records (Infoblox, NS1).
Troubleshoots and resolves network performance issues with customers.
Updates tickets and customers on a regular basis (ServiceNow).
Performs an on call rotation about 1 week in 5.
Works with customers and peers to answer questions and recommend solutions.
Performs other similar duties related to configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining routers, switches, DWDM, and firewall nodes.
Provides experienced design, evaluation, development, and deployment of network system software and hardware technology.
Identifies and resolves moderately complex problems, issues, and assignments in providing network operational support.
Implements and recommends improvements to network performance and reliability.
Performs experienced network analysis and studies to support the growth and expansion of IU-managed networks.
Documents network engineering efforts (updates, new functionality, issue/problem resolution).
Participates on project teams and resolves more complex network technical issues.
Protects software by performing data-backups and coordinating network security measures.

Required
Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science or related field
2 years of network engineering or related experience
Experience with network device and policy configuration on Cisco and Juniper
Proficient communication skills
Maintains a high degree of professionalism
Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills
Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
Possesses flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty
Preferred
Experience working with Ansible and Git
Experience scripting in Perl or Python
Experience using a trouble ticketing system
Experience installing networking equipment
Experience working with both AC and DC power
Experience running fiber/copper connections
