Responsibilities

Code in Java and/or C++ on Unix platform to develop the next generation backend for Yahoo Mail

Work in the Communications organization on Mail, Messenger, Groups, Calendar, Contacts & Notepad

Impact the productivity and connected lives of approximately 300 million users every month

Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers on innovative experiences

Solve challenging engineering problems and work on a diverse team

Utilize knowledge of HTTP, TCP/IP protocol, and Linux/Unix systems

Required

BS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) with minimum 8 year’s experience

Experience with OOP: Java, C++, or similar

Solid understanding of CS fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, object oriented programming)

Understanding of Search algorithms, and familiarity with Lucene or other Tokenizations

You must enjoy challenging engineering problems. We are looking for someone who can solve complex issues

Flexible and able to work with a diverse team that includes engineers, marketing, product, and designers

Familiar with HTTP and TCP/IP protocol

Linux/Unix knowledge necessary

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Preferred

Familiar developing mail application

Knowledge on large scale distributed systems and/or other NoSql systems

Experience with continuous integration (CI) frameworks such as Jenkins and Hudson

Familiar with SCRUM or similar agile methodology
