Responsibilities

Compile violent death data from multiple sources such as death certificates, medical examiner reports, and law enforcement reports.
Analyze and identify pertinent information from source documents as defined by the National Violent Death Reporting System.
Contact data providers to obtain verification information on cases in a timely manner.
Engage in data quality improvement and security projects to ensure high-quality abstraction.
Assist epidemiologist in responding to data requests and inquiries.
Perform other duties as assigned including disaster response and recovery support.

Required

Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university
Minimum of one (1) year of experience with review of death certificates, coroner/medical examiner reports, law enforcement reports or equivalent medical/legal record review
Ability to interpret and apply agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Ability to organize and manage multiple and diverse tasks/projects in an effective and efficient manner
Ability to work under deadline pressures and cope well in stressful environments
Ability to communicate effectively within the agency and with the public
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers
Must be able to move at least 25lbs, e.g., copy paper boxes, chairs and conference room tables with or without accommodations

Preferred

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
Three (3) years of experience with review of death certificates, coroner/medical examiner reports, law enforcement reports or equivalent medical/legal records
